Leadership Dashboard & Behavior Reporting Enhancements
This week, we have two major updates designed to make MTSS data analysis more intuitive, actionable, and transparent for district and school leaders. These improvements give you deeper visibility into student needs and more control over how you explore your data.
Leadership Dashboard: New Drill-Through & Customization Features
The Leadership Dashboard now offers powerful new ways to interact with your MTSS system health data.
Drill into the students behind every metric
You can now click directly into many dashboard visualizations to see the students who make up that data point. Depending on the visualization, you may be taken to:
A filtered list of students in the BRM platform (where you can take action using the Actions menu), or
A tabular view of the underlying records, which you can sort, filter, format, or export.
This makes it easier than ever to understand who needs support and take the next step without leaving the dashboard.
Customize dashboard visuals to fit your workflow
Every expanded visualization now includes full customization options, allowing you to tailor the dashboard to your school or district's needs:
Switch between chart types (bar, line, table, pivot table, and more)
Show or hide columns
Rename fields or adjust formatting
Apply conditional formatting to highlight important patterns
Build pivot tables to compare results across groups (schools, grades, demographics)
Export your customized view for reporting or planning
Whether preparing for a leadership meeting or discussing trends with a PLC, you can create the exact view you need.
Introducing the New Behavior Incident Report
We’ve also launched a fully redesigned Behavior Incident Report (for districts using the New Branching Minds behavior data model) to help schools move beyond tracking incidents toward understanding root causes, equity patterns, and system-level needs.
What’s new?
A clear, MTSS-aligned view of behavior trends
See when, where, and why incidents occur, identify patterns across grades or schools, and monitor changes over time.
Demographic Cohort Insights
Demographic filters make it easy to spot disproportionalities and respond proactively.
Student-level drill-through
Click into any visualization to explore the students behind the data, view their profiles, and take immediate action.
Customizable visualizations
Like the Leadership Dashboard, the new Behavior Incident Report supports:
Visualization switching
Column editing
Pivot tables
Conditional formatting
One-click exports
New Behavior Incident Data Now Included in Nightly SFTP Exports
Districts using the new behavior data model now automatically receive Behavior Incident Details as part of the standard nightly SFTP export from Branching Minds. This eliminates the need for custom data export requests and ensures your internal systems always stay up to date with the behavior data educators see in BRM.
Each row represents one incident + one student and includes:
Student & school info (grade, demographics, program flags)
Incident details (type, date, time, description, location, role)
Actions taken & instructional time lost
Antecedent, consequence, de-escalation strategies
Family/police notification indicators
Reporting staff and reported date
Source IDs from your SIS/discipline system
